• Vaccinations: Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Japanese encephalitis
• Travelers should also be up to date for measles/mumps/rubella (MMR), diphtheria/pertussis/tetanus (DPT), Polio
• Rabies vaccination if traveling to rural areas.
• Japanese encephalitis vaccine if traveling to rural farming areas of Taiwan.
• Travel warnings for: Dengue, Filariasis, Leishmaniasis, Plague, Tickborne encephalitis (TBE), Leptospirosis, Schistosomiasis, Cryptosporidiosis.
• Dengue, Filariasis,Cutaneous leishmaniasis, Plague, Tickborne encephalitis (TBE) are all carried by insects. Travelers should avoid insect bites and use insect repellent with DEET (30%-50%)
• Leptospirosis: avoid swimming in fresh water.
• Schistosomiasis: avoid swimming in fresh water.
• Cryptosporidiosis: risk can be prevented by bottled water.
