São tomé and Príncipe

• Vaccinations:  Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Typhoid, Polio, Yellow Fever

• Travelers should also be up to date for measles/mumps/rubella (MMR), diphtheria/pertussis/tetanus (DPT), Polio

Rabies vaccination if traveling to rural areas.

Yellow fever vaccination certificate is required prior to entry into São tomé and Príncipe.

• Travel warnings for: Malaria, Dengue, Filariasis, Cutaneous leishmaniasis, Onchocerciasis, Trypanosomiasis, Schistosomiasis, Cryptosporidiosis.

Malaria risk in all areas of São tomé and Príncipe.

• Chloroquine is NOT an effective antimalarial drug in São tomé and Príncipe.
• Atovaquone/proguanil, doxycycline, or mefloquine can be used and this should be discussed with your doctor.

Dengue, Cutaneous leishmaniasis, Filariasis, Onchocerciasis (River blindness), and African trypanosomiasis are all carried by insects. Travelers should avoid insect bites and use insect repellent with DEET (30%-50%).

Schistosomiasis avoid swimming in fresh water.

Cryptosporidiosis risk can be prevented by bottled water.
