North Korea
• Vaccinations: Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Typhoid, Rabies, Polio, Japanese Encephalitis
• Travelers should also be up to date for Measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR), Diphtheria/Pertussis/Tetanus (DPT), Polio
• Rabies vaccination if traveling to rural areas.
• Japanese encephalitis vaccine if traveling to rural farming areas of North Korea.
• Travel warnings for: Malaria, Dengue, Filariasis, Plague, Leptospirosis, Schistosomiasis, Cryptosporidiosis.
• Malaria risk is limited to southern areas of North Korea.
• Chloroquine is the recommended antimalarial drug if you will be visiting a malaria risk areas in North Korea.
• Dengue, Filariasis,Cutaneous leishmaniasis, Plague are carried by insects. Travelers should avoid insect bites and use insect repellent with DEET (30%-50%).
• Leptospirosis: avoid swimming in fresh water.
• Schistosomiasis: avoid swimming in fresh water.
• Cryptosporidiosis risk can be prevented by drinking bottled water.
