• Vaccinations: Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B,Typhoid, Rabies
• Travelers should be up to date on Measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR), Diphtheria/Pertussis/Tetanus (DPT), Polio
• Rabies vaccination if traveling to rural areas.
• Travel warnings for: Malaria, Dengue, Filariasis, Leishmaniasis, Onchocerciasis, Cryptosporidiosis.
• Malaria risk in all areas of Comoros.
• Chloroquine is NOT an effective anti malarial drug in Comoros.
• Atovaquone/proguanil, doxycycline, or mefloquine can be used and this should be discussed with your doctor.
• Dengue, Filariasis, Leishmaniasis, onchocerciasis are carried by insects so travelers should avoid insect bites and use insect repellents with DEET (30%-50%).
• Cryptosporidiosis risk can be prevented by drinking bottled water.
