Bangladesh
• Vaccinations: Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Typhoid, Rabies, Polio, Japanese encephalitis
• Travelers should be up to date on measles/mumps/rubella (MMR), diphtheria/pertussis/tetanus (DPT), Polio
• Rabies vaccination if traveling to rural areas.
• Japanese encephalitis vaccine if traveling to rural farming areas of Bangladesh
• Travel warnings for: Malaria, Dengue, Filariasis, Leishmaniasis, Leptospirosis, Cryptosporidiosis.
• Malaria
• Chloroquine is NOT an effective anti-malarial drug in Bangladesh
• Atovaquone/proguanil, doxycycline, or mefloquine can be used, but this should be discussed with your doctor
• Dengue, Filariasis,Cutaneous leishmaniasis are carried by insects and travelers should avoid insect bites and use insect repellent with DEET (30%-50%)
• Leptospirosis: avoid swimming in fresh water
• Cryptosporidiosis: risk can be prevented by drinking bottled water.
