Angola
• Vaccinations: Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B,Typhoid, Rabies, Polio, Yellow Fever
• Travelers should be up to date on measles/mumps/rubella (MMR), diphtheria/pertussis/tetanus (DPT), Polio
• Rabies vaccination if traveling to rural areas.
• Yellow fever vaccination certificate required prior to entry into Angola
• Travel warnings for: Malaria, Dengue, Filariasis, Cutaneous leishmaniasis, Schistosomiasis, Cryptosporidiosis.
• Malaria
• Chloroquine is NOT an effective anti malarial drug in Angola
• Atovaquone/proguanil, doxycycline, or mefloquine can be used but this should be discussed with your doctor
• Dengue, Cutaneous leishmaniasis, filariasis carried by insects and travelers should avoid insect bites and use insect repellent with DEET (30%-50%)
• Schistosomiasis avoid swimming in fresh water.
• Cryptosporidiosis risk can be prevented by bottled water.
