White tongue
White tongue can be a sign of: 
· Thrush fungal infection which is typically a white patch that can be scraped off with a tongue blade.
· Scarring from trauma typically due to poor fitting dentures.
· Leukoplakia which is a sign of early cancer.
· Normal mouth flora can cause a generalized whitish or yellow hue to the top surface of the mouth that may change slightly with brushing and is painless.
· Canker sores are small white spot that is painful.
· White tongue that is new or changing should be evaluated by your doctor.
