Vomiting

Vomiting is the forceful and involuntary reflex of expelling the contents out of the stomach.

Vomiting that is rapid in onset and not associated with abdominal pain can result from:
· food poisoning
· medications (narcotics such as codeine, Vicodin)
· infection of the stomach
· infection of the intestine
· inflammation of the stomach (gastritis)
· gastric outlet obstruction
· gastric ulcer

Vomiting that is rapid in onset and associated with abdominal pain can result from:
· diseases of the pancreas (pancreatitis)
· gall stones (biliary track obstruction)
· intestinal obstruction (ileus)
· gastric ulcer

Vomiting that worsens of persists can be a sign of a serious condition should be evaluated by your doctor.
