Tinnitus
· Tinnitus is “ringing in the ears”
· Tinnitus is the symptom of an abnormal perception of sound.
· Tinnitus is usually a high-pitched ringing sound but may be any abnormal sound including pulsatile noise or clicks.
· Tinnitus “ringing” can be caused by:
hearing loss
damage to the cochlea
exposure to loud music
Meniere’s disease
aspirin toxicity
acoustic neuroma (tumor)
· Tinnitus “pulsatile” can be caused by:
aneurysm
venous sinus stenosis
tumor
· Tinnitus should be evaluated by your doctor.
