Paranoia (which means a mind beside itself) is a condition in which a person has persecutory delusions. For example,
one may think that someone or something is out to get them.
Paranoid delusions are strong, fixed beliefs of persecution.
Although there is some overlap, there are three types of Paranoia:
Pure paranoia
Paranoia with schizophrenia
Delirium with paranoia is an acute confusional state, for example intoxication with drugs that produces paranoid feelings. Drugs associated with paranoid delirium include:
phencyclidine(PCP)
amphetamines
cocaine
