Muscle spasms
• Muscle spasms are the symptom of an involuntary contraction of a muscle.
• Muscle or nerve injury can cause the involuntary muscle contraction.
• Muscle spasms can be a symptom of:
· abnormal electrolyte levels (sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphate levels).
· dehydration
· poor blood circulation
· peripheral vascular disease
· thyroid disorder
• Muscle spasms can be a symptom neurologic diseases.
• Muscle spasms that persist can be a sign of a more serious condition should always be evaluated by your doctor.
