Knee pain

Knee pain is the symptom of discomfort of the knee.

Knee pain can result from:
· Baker’s (popliteal) cyst(behind the knee)
· Bursitis(inflammation of the bursa)
· Iliotibial band syndrome
· Patellar tendinitis
· Meniscus tear
· Medial or lateral collateral ligament strain or tear
· Anterior cruciate ligament tear
· Infection of the knee
· Arthritis (osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, pseudogout, septic  arthritis, reactive arthritis)
· Tumor (osteosarcoma)
· Fracture (broken bone)

Knee pain should be evaluated by your doctor.

  1. Not sure if you have looked at this but the CDC discovered that the degree of intensity for osteo-arthritis was higher for African Americans and Hispanics, in spite of reduced frequency amongst these groups. The article was released in the May issue of Preventing Chronic Disease.
