Hiccups

Hiccups are a sudden and involuntary reflex which causes the diaphragm to contract, quickly suck air into the lungs making a characteristic squeaking sound.

Hiccups will usually start suddenly and stop on their own.

Hiccups can occur with a frequency of up to every minute.

Hiccups are common and usually benign.

Hiccups that persist or worsens can be a sign of a more serious condition and should always be evaluated by your doctor.
