Chest pain

Chest pain is the symptom of any discomfort between the neck and the abdomen.

Chest pain is extremely important because it may be a symptom of a heart attack or heart disease.

Chest pain may also be a symptom of:
· esophageal spasm (spasm of the esophagus)
· asthma
· pneumonia
· chest wall pain (pain originating from the muscles, joints or bones that make up the chest wall-not the heart)
· singles of the chest wall (reactivation of the chicken pox virus/ also called herpes zoster)

Chest pain should always be evaluated by your doctor.
