Anaphylaxis
• Anaphylaxis the symptom of a severe and excessive and potentially fatal allergic reaction.
• Anaphylaxis usually starts rapidly after an exposure to the allergic agent (food, medication, insect bite).
• Anaphylaxis typically starts with a rapidly progressing skin rash that may lead to swelling of the face and specifically the lips. The tongue may swell leading to an obstruction of the airway.
• Anaphylaxis may cause wheezing and upper airway stridor (the sound of an obstructing throat or trachea)
• Anaphylaxis also may be associated with flushing, generalized itching, and generalized rash.
• Anaphylaxis may cause a drop in blood pressure, shock and death.
