Alopecia

Alopecia is the disorder of excessive hair loss.

Alopecia may result from:

bacterial or fungal infections of the scalp
chemical exposure to the scalp
physical trauma to the scalp or hair follicle
hair follicles that are excessively sensitive to testosterone (male pattern baldness)
autoimmune disorders such as Lupus and Alopecia areate
medications such as anti inflammatory drugs (Ibuprofen, aspirin) and chemotherapy
hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism
iron-deficiency anemia
pituitary insufficiencies

• New onset alopecia should be evaluated by your doctor.
