Abdominal rigidity

Abdominal rigidity is the symptom of involuntary contraction of the abdominal wall muscles in response to abdominal pain.

Abdominal rigidity is abdominal wall stiffness which involuntarily increases with pressing against the abdominal wall.

Abdominal rigidity is a characteristic finding by a doctor when examining the abdomen of a patient who has a significant intra-abdominal problem.

Abdominal rigidity can be a sign of:
· peritonitis
· acute appendicitis
· gastrointestinal perforation
· cholecystitis

Abdominal rigidity can indicate a serious medical problem and should be evaluated by your doctor.
