Lung cancer breath test

by medicues

-A new BREATH TEST can accurately diagnose LUNG CANCER. Although lung cancer kills over 1 million people every year, we do not have an adequate test to screen for lung cancer.

· Investigators report of a new test that can detect lung cancer with a breath test in the August 30th issue of the journal Natural Nanotechnology. People with lung cancer exhale about 42 volatile compounds. Investigators studies patients with lung cancer and showed that an array of sensors based on gold nano particles can rapidly distinguish the breath of lung cancer patients from the breath of healthy people.
This breath test for lung cancer is inexpensive, easy to perform and non-invasive. Additionally the breath test can identify different forms of lung cancer. The accuracy rate for detecting blood cancer was greater than 90%

Lung cancer is a huge public health concern and by 2030 there will be almost 30 million people dying from lung cancer every year.

This report is very important in that it offers hope for improving earlier diagnoses and treatment of a deadly form of cancer. A convenient and accurate screening test for lung cancer is vital to combating this deadly disease.
