Dieting may improve your memory
· In a recent study published in The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 50 men on low calorie diets where shown to have improved memory. According to the study, participants who cut their calories by 30% had an improvement in their memory of about 20%.
· Bodily inflammation interferes with cell function and likely has a negative effect on the brain cells’ ability to recall or make memories. However, cutting calories from carbohydrates (sugars) will lead to a decrease in inflammation as well as in insulin production.
· Many medical studies have concluded harmful affects of inflammation on cells and cell function.
· Inflammation can be measured by an easy blood test; the C reactive protein. Insulin excess can also be measured by a simple blood test.
· Cutting excessive carbohydrates has many benefits; protecting against diabetes, weight loss and now it appears improving your memory.
