Jock Itch

Definition
· Jock itch is a fungal infection of the tissues of the groin.

Overview
· Jock itch is common.
· Jock itch is commonly called Tinea cruris (Latin for fungus of the leg) , which is a  bit deceiving because the rash occurs in the groin and not on the leg.

· Jock itch spreads by direct contact and is exacerbated by the warm, moist environment of the groin.

Symptoms
· Jock itch is characterized by intense itch in the groin and buttock area and usually spares the scrotum.
· Jock itch rash is red and scaly with raised, sharply demarcated edges.

Treatment
· Drying agents and loose fitting close are helpful
· Anti-fungal creams
