GERD
• Gastroesophageal reflux is the symptom of acid reflux inappropriately
passing from the stomach acid and up into the esophagus.
• Gastroesophageal reflux acid burns the wall of the esophagus causing a burning pain or discomfort.
• Gastroesophageal reflux, Heartburn and GERD all indicate gastroesophageal (acid) reflux disease.
• 20 percent of American adults will have symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease and 10 percent of adults will have daily discomfort.
• Gastroesophageal reflux may worsen while with lying down.
• Gastroesophageal reflux can lead to esophageal cancer so discomfort that last more than two weeks should always be evaluated by your doctor.
