Bad Breath

Definition

Bad breath (halitosis) is the condition of excessive odor from mouth, sinus or lungs.

Overview

Bad breath is usually due to bacterial overgrowth from an infection or decaying food material.

Bad breath usually originates from the mouth or nasal airways. Good oral hygiene and adequate hydration is usually sufficient to control bad breath.

Other causes of bad breath include: chronic sinusitis, dental abscess, lung abscess.
