I suffered with Angina for about 3 months and the doctors would not believe I had anything wrong with me. They kept telling me that it was either in my head or I was just going through menopause, even though I had a total hysterectomy when I was 29 the insisted that a part of the ovary must have been left in. It got so bad that I was taking nitro every half hour day and night because the pain was so bad. They finally put me in the hospital and even one of the women doctors thought it was not my heart. Then they did an angiogram and realized that I had 3 blocked arteries. 1 was 97% blocked one was 89% blocked and the 3rd one was 65% blocked. They decided the 3rd one wasn’t that bad then so they didn’t do it. After 4 years it still hadn’t healed and I was on mega doses of prednisone. Once they were finally able to take me off prednisone they did a DNA test and my ANA showed I had Lupus which was the reason my heart by-pass wouldn’t heal. Now the third artery is very bad but they won’t do open heart surgery on me because of the Lupus so now I’m taking maximum dosages of numerous heart medications. It’s a shame that anyone should have had to fight so hard to make doctors realize that Women DO HAVE HEART PROBLEMS. Now of course they are totally aware of it but 17 years ago it was a different set of circumstances. Women didn’t get heart disease back then. Such sadness at the attitude.
