Definition
• Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD is the disorder of inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity.
Overview
· Up to five percent of all children in the United Sates have Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder.
· Symptoms usually appear early in life and may gradually appear over many months.
Treatment
· The diagnosis is difficult to make and there are no blood tests that can confirm the diagnosis.
· Since most people have some of the characteristics of inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity, the diagnosis must be made by a psychiatrist.
